چکیده
Abstract We successfully observed 191 near-Earth asteroids using the Arecibo Observatory’s S-band planetary radar system from 2017 December through 2019 December. present cross sections for 167 asteroids; circular-polarization ratios 112 based on Doppler-echo-power spectra measurements; and albedos, constraints size spin periods, surface-feature shape evaluation 37 selected delay-Doppler images with a range resolution of 75 m or finer. Out 33 an estimated effective diameter at least 200 sufficient image quality to give clues shape, 4 (?12%) are binary asteroids, including 1 equal-mass asteroid, YE5, 10 (?30%) contact-binary asteroids. For 5 out reliable measurements in both circular polarizations, we measured greater than 1.0, which could indicate that they E-type while mean ? standard deviation were 0.37 ± 0.23. Further, find opposite-sense albedo 0.21 0.11 41 (0.19 0.06 11 S-complex asteroids). identified two 2011 WN15 (505657) 2014 SR339, as possible metal-rich objects their unusually high discuss evidence water ice YE5.

Radar Observations of Near-earth
Much useful information about physical and dynamical properties can be obtained from radar observations of near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) that come within reach of 1 Resolution of echoes in Doppler frequency and/or time groundbased radar telescopes . delay can be used to synthesize 1-D or 2-D images that show a target’s size, shape and rotation. Disc-integrated measurements also have value, becaus...
متن کاملThermal infrared and optical observations of four near-Earth asteroids
We present thermal infrared photometry and spectrophotometry of four Near-Earth Asteroids (NEAs), namely (433) Eros, (66063) 1998 RO1, (137032) 1998 UO1, and (138258) 2000 GD2, using the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) in 2002. For two objects, i.e.: (433) Eros and (137032) 1998 UO1 quasi-simultaneous optical observations were also obtained, using the Jacobus Kapteyn Telescope (JKT). ...
متن کاملRejuvenating Asteroids during Planetary Flybys: Applications to (99942) Apophis and Other Near-earth Asteroids
Introduction: Laboratory measurements of meteorite reflectance spectra rarely match telescopic observations of asteroid reflectance spectra due to the process (es) of space weathering, which rapidly darken and redden asteroid surface on million-year timescales [e.g. 1-2]. While most main belt asteroids appear weathered, a fraction of near-Earth asteroids (the Q-types) appear unweathered – possi...
متن کاملCapturing near-Earth asteroids around Earth
The list of detected near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) is constantly growing. NEAs are likely targets for resources to support space industrialization, as they may be the least expensive source of certain needed raw materials. The limited supply of precious metals and semiconducting elements on Earth may be supplemented or even replaced by the reserves floating in the form of asteroids around the sol...
متن کاملEURONEAR - Data Mining of Asteroids and Near Earth Asteroids
Besides new observations, mining old photographic plates and CCD image archives represents an opportunity to recover and secure newly discovered asteroids, also to improve the orbits of Near Earth Asteroids (NEAs), Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) and Virtual Impactors (VIs). These are the main research aims of the EURONEAR network. As stated by the IAU, the vast collection of image archi...
